DESCRIPTION::

Boko Haram fighters attacked the N'Guigmi airfield in the Diffa region on the night of January 22-23. The Nigerien Armed Forces resisted the attack, and a search operation with air support neutralized several dozen terrorists attempting to flee on canoes across Lake Chad. Ten soldiers were injured but are not in critical condition. The Governor of Diffa visited the injured soldiers and expressed support for the security forces. The Diffa region has faced Boko Haram attacks since 2015, but recent efforts have limited such incidents, with this attack being swiftly contained by Nigerien forces.
