Journalist Mohamed Boughalleb is set to appear before the Tunisian judiciary again due to a complaint filed against him by a university professor under Decree 54. According to his defense lawyer, Hamadi Zaafrani, Boughalleb will be judged by the Criminal Chamber of the Tunis Court of First Instance based on Article 24, paragraphs 1 and 2 of Decree No. 54. Previously, an arrest warrant had been issued against him by an investigating judge in this case. Additionally, Boughalleb was sentenced to eight months in prison on appeal in a separate case involving a civil servant from the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Previously, he spent six months in prison on charges of insulting a public official. Boughalleb is a fierce critic of President Kais Saied.
