Incident Date: July 26, 2024
Instability Rating Max 5.0: 2.50
DESCRIPTION::

As of July 26, 2024, the water level in Tunisian dams has fallen to 26.6%, totaling 625.464 million cubic meters, one of the lowest levels ever recorded. This decline is due to ongoing drought conditions and a delayed rainy season. Compared to the same date last year, water reserves have decreased by 20.7%, and by 25.9% compared to the average of the past three years. The distribution of reserves shows the northern dams holding the most water, while central and southern dams are critically low. Total water inflows for the season have dropped significantly, with a total of 650.469 million cubic meters compared to a three-year average of 1,775.165 million cubic meters.
