Mozambique: French navy to conduct exercises with Mozambique

The Mozambican and French navies will regularly conduct joint exercises and strategic exchanges under a newly ratified defense cooperation agreement. This agreement, which acknowledges shared interests in the Mozambique Channel, aims to enhance maritime knowledge and cooperation in the southwest Indian Ocean. It includes provisions for joint exercises, officer training and exchange, strategic-level maritime discussions, and sharing of operational maritime information. Additionally, it supports the capacity building of the Mozambican Navy. The agreement prohibits visiting party members from engaging in public order operations or war preparations. It is valid for five years and will be automatically renewed unless terminated.
