The number of people displaced from Cabo Delgado to Nampula province in Mozambique due to violence by Islamic terrorists has increased from 30,000 to 33,000. Displaced individuals from Chiúre district crossed the Lúrio River and are being sheltered in Eráti district, Nampula province. Vulnerability to hunger and malnutrition, especially among women and children, is a concern. The National Institute for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (INGD) and partners have established three transitional centers. Despite government and partner assistance, there is an acknowledgment that it is insufficient, and displaced families need basic support. The displaced people left in the middle of the agricultural season, complicating their survival situation. The Nampula provincial governor, Manuel Rodrigues, urged greater vigilance and denunciation of terrorists infiltrating the population. Cabo Delgado, rich in natural resources, has faced terrorist attacks since 2017, causing over 3,000 deaths, mostly civilians.
