On July 24, 2024, Mali's Central Office of Narcotics (OCS) achieved a significant success by seizing a record 12 kilograms of pure cocaine at Bamako International Airport. The cocaine, with a market value of 480 million FCFA (approximately 800,000 USD), was found concealed in four double-bottom suitcases. Two Franco-Malian suspects, who were en route to Paris with a stopover in Brussels, were arrested during the meticulously planned operation.
Laboratory analysis revealed the cocaine's purity to be 98.47%, underscoring the severity and scale of the drug trafficking operation. This decisive action marks a crucial step in Mali's ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and safeguard its population from the associated risks.
