On the night of September 4-5, 2024, heavy rains hit the Ouaddaï province of Chad, particularly affecting the village of Tissil in the Guerrie canton. A lightning strike tragically struck a school, killing 15 people and injuring several others. The incident occurred 50 kilometers from Abéché, along the Biltine road.
Chad’s Prime Minister, Allah-Maye Halina, extended condolences to the grieving families on behalf of the government. Local authorities have been mobilized to provide assistance and support to the victims and their families. The Prime Minister also called for national solidarity with those affected by the disaster.
