DESCRIPTION::

Mozambican health authorities are facing an ongoing cholera outbreak in the northern part of the country, registering over 50 new cases daily. The outbreak has claimed 25 lives and infected 12,250 people in less than four months. The latest figures indicate a drop in the fatality rate from 0.3% to 0.2% in the past week. Nampula province is the most affected, with 3,299 cases and 12 deaths, followed by Tete with 1,905 cases and six deaths. The government recently vaccinated over 2.2 million people against cholera in the most affected districts, achieving 100% coverage. The vaccination campaign cost approximately US$1.3 million.
