Nigeria: Police take over town in Kwara after killing of traditional ruler

Security agents have taken control of Koro town in Kwara State, Nigeria, following the killing of traditional ruler Onikoro, Oba Segun Aremu, in his palace, along with the abduction of his wife and two neighbors. The town is now under the tight control of armed police, soldiers, and other security forces conducting stop-and-search operations. Local vigilantes and hunters have joined efforts to comb the forests for bandits or kidnappers. The late monarch's immediate brother mentioned that the town has faced bandit terror for years, causing residents to abandon farms.
