Bello Mai Dubu-Dubu was identified as a mastermind and supplier of arms to previously arrested kidnapping suspects. The operation also led to the confiscation of three AK47 rifles and 90 rounds of live ammunition as the suspects were planning a kidnapping mission in Tambuwal local government area. Despite Mai Dubu-Dubu's attempt to evade arrest, he was neutralized by the police while others escaped with bullet wounds. The incident highlights the ongoing battle against banditry in Nigeria, which former Senator Shehu Sani attributes to corruption.
