In Kainji, Niger State, 125 Boko Haram terrorists and financiers were convicted in a two-day mass trial. The charges included terrorism, financing, material support, and ICC-related crimes. Supervised by the Attorney-General and National Security Adviser, the trials involved five Federal High Court judges.
The prosecution team was led by Mohammed Babadoko Abubakar, and the defense by Abdulfatai Bakre. Observers included the National Human Rights Commission, Nigerian Bar Association, and the UN Office on Drugs and Crimes.
85 were convicted for terrorism financing, 22 for ICC crimes, and others for terrorism, receiving various jail terms. Additionally, 400 who completed sentences were moved to Gombe State for rehabilitation and reintegration.
