Former Deputy Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Prof. Olorunfemi Olaofe, who was kidnapped on July 9, has been found dead. He was abducted from his house in Ado-Ekiti along with his security guard. The kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N50 million, later reduced to N15 million, before they ceased communication.
Prof. Olaofe's body was discovered in a shallow grave along the Ekiti Cargo Airport Road, as confirmed by the Are-Ekiti Progressive Union President, Prof. Femi Oke. The Commissioner of Police, CP Adeniran Akinwale, confirmed the discovery and stated that several suspects, including the professor's security guard, have been arrested in connection with the abduction.
