Niger: Attack on police checkpoint near Niamey kills three civilians

On January 11, the Laoudou national gendarmerie checkpoint, just 17 km from Niamey on the Say road, was targeted in a terrorist attack. The attackers, arriving in two vehicles, opened fire in the early evening before being met with a response from on-site agents. The attack resulted in three civilian deaths, five injuries (including three civilians and two gendarmes), and the theft of three vehicles, including one belonging to the gendarmerie.
