Celeste Macunha, a newly elected member of the Municipal Assembly in Quelimane, Mozambique, was found dead, apparently murdered, in the Nicoadala district. Macunha, who belonged to the ruling Frelimo party, had recently been sworn into office. Her charred body was discovered after she was last seen attending a funeral in Quelimane. The coroner noted signs of violence on her head, indicating blunt force trauma. Macunha also worked at Quelimane Central Hospital, where colleagues were shocked by her sudden absence and subsequent tragedy.
