DESCRIPTION::
Within the past week two Mozambicans of Asian origin have been kidnapped in Maputo city. The kidnappings occurred in central parts of the city, which are heavily policed, near government buildings such as the Ministry of the Interior, and the Maputo City police command. On Tuesday, 23 July 2024, the police announced that they had found a kidnappers’ hideout where they imprisoned some of their victims in the southern city of Matola. This place was inside a condominium which is literally next door to a police station. The kidnappings affect mostly business people of Asian origin.
