Mozambique: Transporters in parts of Maputo halt activity

Chapas, who are public transport operators at the Zimpeto public transport hub in Maputo, Mozambique, ceased operations due to protests against the deteriorating condition of the roads connecting Zimpeto to National Highway Number 1. The move disrupted transportation for those intending to travel to the city centre, Matola, and Marracuene. The paved road around Zimpeto National Stadium and the access to the bus terminal are reported to be in an advanced state of degradation.
