The town of Namaacha in Maputo province, Mozambique, is facing a severe water supply issue, restricting access to water for its more than 17,000 residents to just once a week. The problem stems from a ruptured electrical cable at the water collection and supply center, persisting for approximately six months. Some neighborhoods have been without tap water for the last two months, leading residents to resort to consuming water from unsuitable wells in the town. Namaacha Municipal Council President, Paulo Chitiva, acknowledges the problem and mentions that measures are being taken to address the situation.
