Mozambique: 39 inmates escape from prison in Zambézia

At least 39 inmates escaped from Alto Molócuè prison in Zambezia province, Mozambique, after attacking the guards. The incident occurred last Saturday at around 15:30, involving 44 inmates. One escapee was shot dead and four were recaptured, leaving 39 still at large. The escaped prisoners, accused of theft, murder, drug trafficking, and other serious crimes, include 20 convicts serving sentences and 19 awaiting trial. The National Prison Service is conducting intensive search operations to recapture the fugitives and investigate the circumstances of the escape.
