A devastating fire engulfed the "Dabanani" market in Commune II of the Bamako District in Mali, destroying around thirty stores. The fire, which started late at night from Tuesday to Wednesday, spread rapidly, consuming shops, hangars, and kiosks. Despite no reported loss of human life, significant material damage occurred. Civil Protection teams worked for hours to contain the fire, with over five fire brigade vehicles on site. Shopkeepers turned rescuers salvaged belongings, while firefighters attended to those affected by smoke inhalation. Some individuals took advantage of the situation for theft, and the source of the fire remained unidentified at the time of reporting.Affected traders expressed dismay over the extensive damage, with one estimating around forty stores affected. The head of the regional directorate of Civil Protection declined to comment on the fire's origin.
