UNICEF reports that children in east Libya, particularly in the Derna and Jabal Al-Akhdar regions, have experienced negative behavioral changes, with 67% of them affected since the floods caused by Storm Daniel in September. The organization, in collaboration with local and international partners, reveals that 48% of these children urgently require continuous mental, psychological, and social support. In response, UNICEF has initiated a comprehensive program, in partnership with the Association of Scouts and Guides in Derna, funded by Japan, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, to provide psychological and social assistance to affected children. The organization has deployed 16 mobile teams to offer mental health services, prioritizing displaced, unaccompanied, and directly affected children, reaching 72,000 individuals and providing them with necessary support.
