On August 20, 2024, Hezbollah launched multiple rocket attacks on northern Israel, targeting a command center in Ga'aton and Israeli army positions in the Golan Heights. This escalation followed an Israeli strike on that killed a Hezbollah fighter in Deir Qanoun, Tyre district. The Israeli military reported that 55 rockets from Lebanon ignited fires in northern Israel, with only some being intercepted. In retaliation, Israel's military conducted air raids and artillery strikes on various Lebanese locations, including Aita al-Shaab and al-Khiam, and targeted Hezbollah facilities.

The ongoing conflict, which began on October 8, has caused significant damage and casualties on both sides. As of the latest reports, at least 586 people have died in Lebanon, including 128 civilians, while Israel has lost 23 soldiers and 26 civilians. The situation remains tense with fears of further escalation as Hezbollah seeks revenge for recent Israeli actions.
