Russian military personnel, including instructors, have arrived in Burkina Faso this week. The increased cooperation is already evident through a substantial rise in scholarships across various categories and the deployment of a defense attaché currently underway in Moscow. Since President Ibrahim Traoré assumed office in September 2022, Burkina Faso's relations with the Russian Federation have expanded and deepened in various fields. on December 28, 2023, Russia reopened its embassy in Ouagadougou after a closure of 31 years.
