Burkina Faso: Army sets up battalion in Gayéri

Burkina Faso's President, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, announced the establishment of a Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR) in Gayéri to enhance counter-terrorism efforts in the region. The BIR aims to combat terrorist threats effectively and has been established in several locations across the country. In addition to its security role, the battalion is tasked with escorting large logistics convoys for the national armed forces, participating in the fight against organized crime, and preserving military traditions.
