Four Malian gold miners were killed in the Sahara buffer zone near El Moug by a strike carried out by a Royal Armed Forces (FAR) drone. Another Mauritanian gold miner was injured and evacuated for treatment. The Mauritanian government had previously undertaken operations to arrest gold miners, including foreigners, in the area east of the Sand Wall erected by the Moroccan military. Mauritania has urged its nationals, especially gold miners, to refrain from venturing outside national borders, legalizing all areas where gold miners are active within the country.
