Sanki Assoudi, Secretary-General of the Regional Labor Union (URT) of Kasserine, has had his detention extended by the investigating judge at the court of first instance of Tunis. Ridha Smaali, a member of the executive office of the URT of Kasserine, confirmed this information, noting that Assoudi's defense committee has filed a request for his release. Assoudi was arrested on February 6 as part of an investigation into administrative corruption at the National Cellulose and Paper Company Alfa (SNCPA). He is accused of falsifying diplomas to secure a promotion to the position of department head within the company, an accusation vehemently denied by Assoudi and the URT, who assert that it is an attempt to hinder union activities and target the trade unionist unfairly.
