The Burkina Bar Association's strike, declared in response to the arrest of lawyer Guy Hervé Kam on the night of January 24-25, was observed on February 15, 2024. The reason for Kam's arrest remains unknown, and the Bar Association has demanded his unconditional release. The strike led to a halt in legal proceedings across the national territory, with no lawyers present at the High Court (TGI) in Ouaga1. Trials were postponed, and the Lawyer’s House was deserted. Litigants expressed understanding for the lawyers' corporate struggle, acknowledging the potential reasons for Kam's arrest but emphasizing the need for transparent communication. The Bar Association instructed lawyers to boycott court proceedings, and the decision on further actions will be determined after the strike, according to Me Paul Kéré.
