DESCRIPTION::

Mauritania police forcefully dispersed activists from IRA who were protesting the suspension of Deputy Mariem Mint Cheikh on January 27. IRA Mauritania reported that police violently suppressed the demonstrators, resulting in several injuries, including IRA coordinator Elhaj El ID, Nouakchott-Sud regional bureau president Bounass Hmeida, Teyaret section president Mohamed Samba, and IRA-Riyad section president Mohamed Alioune. Another group of protesters was reportedly apprehended and detained in various police stations in Nouakchott.
