The president of the opposition Free Destourian Party (PDL) Abir Moussi was the subject of an arrest warrant as part of the complaint filed against her by the Independent High Authority for Elections (Isie). Prosecuted on the basis of article 24 of decree 54, Abir Moussi appeared this Wednesday, February 21, 2024 before the investigating judge near the court of first instance of Tunis: “his hearing lasted long hours, from 9 a.m. at 6 p.m.,” said Me Ali Bejaoui Tayachi, member of the defense committee and leader of the PDL. “We will continue to defend rights, freedoms and principles,” he added, affirming that the lawyer and president of the Destourien Party maintains morale despite the issuance of this new arrest warrant. “She was not surprised by this decision because she knows full well that she is the target of a political trial with the aim of excluding her from the next presidential election…” added the lawyer.
