In the central state of Plateau, Nigeria, Sylvanus Namang, the publicity secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) party, was killed by unknown gunmen at a relaxation spot in the Pankshin area over the weekend. The attackers, suspected to be kidnappers, broke into the establishment, kidnapping the owner. In response to a distress call, the police intervened, thwarting the kidnapping and engaging in a firefight with the assailants. The gunmen managed to escape with gunshot wounds. An investigation has been initiated by the police into the incident.
