DESCRIPTION::
A 25-year-old man named Bartolomeu Cristiano Russumbe was tortured to death by a police officer in the Mussumbuluco neighborhood of Matola, southern Mozambique. The officer, identified as Xavito, entered Russumbe's house without a warrant, accusing him of stealing his belongings. Russumbe was then tied to a tree and beaten until he foamed at the mouth, with the support of three neighbors. After the torture, Russumbe was taken to a police station, but later found dead in a morgue. The victim's sister discovered the body after realizing he was missing. The incident was witnessed by Russumbe's girlfriend, who was also subjected to torture. The accused officer has been arrested and transferred to Machava Central Prison.
